Canada Fund for Local Initiatives: Call for Proposals 2017-2018

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) supports projects proposed and implemented by community groups, NGOs, regional government institutions, and other grassroots organizations working on local development activities. Since 1997, the CFLI has funded over 430 small projects in Mongolia focused on reducing poverty and strengthening good governance.

This year, we are accepting proposals for projects focusing on the following themes:

 Empowering women and girls and promoting gender equality;
 Promoting human development, specifically in the areas of health, nutrition, and education;
 Championing human rights, inclusive and accountable governance, democracy, peaceful pluralism, and respect for diversity;
 Supporting inclusive and green economic growth;
 Promoting action on the environment, including water and climate change;

All projects must demonstrate gender equality, environmental protection, sustainability, and active participation of beneficiaries.

Project proposal submission deadline: June 5, 2017, 17:00 local time
Project implementation dates: August 24, 2017 through February 1, 2018
Maximum funding: 50 million MNT

Please note that only selected proposals will be contacted by August 1, 2017. Proposals sent after the submission deadline, and proposals that do not meet the project requirements will be automatically eliminated from the selection process.
